Thundercats: Dogs of War.
DC Comics.
128p. illus 2004.
This graphic novel is based on a popular cartoon series for children. The Thundercats' home planet has been invaded by The Dogs of War, a race of imperialist war-mutts led by Doberlord, a Doberman pinscher who dresses like a Roman Emperor. Doberlord uses his mighty army of Dog Soldiers and Lizarians to exterminate the Ro-Bear Berbils, a race of mechanical koala bears, and the Thundercats are next on his list. The Dogs attack with such overwhelming force that Lion-O, the Thundercat's king, is forced to turn to his archenemy for aid--enter Mumm-Ra and his band of evil mutants. This is, of course, a bad idea: in a shocking betrayal that shocks no one but Lion-O, the Thundercats are double-crossed and tossed into the Dogs' Dungeons. Their only hope of salvation lies in the hands of a pair of feisty young ThunderKittens and the aforementioned Mumm-Ra (who's not called evil for nothing).
